PB1A GENRE ON COUPONS
The topic I decided to write about in this assignment is coupons. The reason I choose that topic is that a coupon is one of those things that can help you save a lot of money but also can get you into trouble if you don't use it correctly. The person that created coupons his name is Asa Candler had a brainstorm and he created his first coupon in 1887. In the early 90's there were coupons people used on groceries, fruits etc. The year 2009 there was 3.5 billion coupon used which is 700 hundred thousands more than in 2008. The time coupons really started to be used by consumers was during 1992 that's when 7.9 billion coupons discount was granted. As coupons became more popular the technology also grew much bigger there were coupons available online for people to print it out or use e-coupons which allowed consumers to use the coupon in-store through their mobile devices. when we talk about discount through coupons it does not mean on any item sometimes the coupons are for certain item/ flavor/size etc. Nowadays when we try to use a coupon at a store during checkout when the cashier scans the coupons sometimes it will not work because the computer system recognizes that the coupon the customer trying to use for the product for it,s not for that item. As couponing world grew much bigger different retailers/pharmacy like Target, Walmart, CVS, Rite-aid etc stated to give out their own store coupon which can be used with a manufacturer coupon. The difference between a manufacturer coupon and a store coupon is that manufacturer coupon can be used in any store that accepts coupons and stores coupon only can be used at that store. Also, there are the different website like Coupons.com that allows you to print coupons that you can use in different stores for savings. Also as coupon became more known to consumers some decided to use it the wrong way. There are rules that need to be followed when using coupons because there is a limited amount of the same coupon you can use per day. There were people who used coupons to get discounts and then returned those items for store gift cards or cash and stores like Target would give you back the money your coupons was worth for an item you used coupons on. For example, two ladies had to show up in court for using fake coupons in CVS that they bought online. Also using coupon is not a bad thing because there are people who save thousands every year just by using coupons and there are people who even make more money after buying the products using the coupon and reselling them for a higher value. One lady decided to sale her stockpile which is a bunch of stuff she been buying using coupons to sell those items in her front yard to raise money for her nieces trip to Florida. so, if you decide to use coupons use it the right way and if you get really good at using coupons maybe you also want to sell those products to save up for a vacation.
The thing that makes coupon the thing is that according to google a voucher entitling the holder to a discount on a product for example: cereal, shampoo, movies, toothpaste etc.
